Amsterdam is an amazing place to take a holiday or short break. Whoever you are and whatever you are looking for during your trip you are sure to find it here.

Amsterdam

Amsterdam for Couples

If you thought this city was just a place full of stag parties, then think again. You can spend an incredible romantic break with your significant other without a red light in sight.

During the day take a dreamy stroll along the canals and get some quiet time in a secluded courtyard such as Begijnhof. Visit the beautiful floating flower market and ponder the remarkable works of Van Gogh in the museum of the same name.

When it comes to dining out of an evening, there are plenty of charming venues dotted in and around the canals area. After dinner enjoy a freshly made cocktail or two in one of the many trendy bars in Amsterdam centre.

Soak up the atmosphere, take in the scenery and enjoy the art together during your romantic break.

There are plenty of fun filled things to do as a family in Amsterdam. The first most obvious thing to do would be to take a boat tour along the canals. Learn about the history of the city whilst keeping the kids entertained at the same time!

Some parks are scattered across the city but the most notable for families is Vondelpark. With its playground and paddling pool it’s a winner for those with children, visitors and locals alike. You can also hire a bakfiet, a bike with an almost wheelbarrow like seat in the front for a child. A great way to get around.

Family dinners are no problem here either. From quality street food vendors, chain and family run restaurants you will find a place for even the fussiest eaters.

Amsterdam for Groups

Groups are accommodated for well in Amsterdam. You will find many apartments and hostels that cater for lots of people staying together and at some reasonable prices too.

As a hotspot for stag and hen party’s you can choose from an array of party suggestions to make the most of your stay. It is best to book ahead when travelling as a group as to not be disappointed if everything full once arriving but there are deals to be had booking last minute city breaks too.

Hire a party boat or party bicycles, gamble on a casino boat, watch a show, have a chocolate day or even take a burlesque workshop. Whether you are here for to enjoy relaxing or debauchery – your group will have the time of their lives.

Amsterdam for Art Lovers

When you hear great names such as Van Gogh, Rembrandt and Vermeer you already know this city will have a lot to offer for those who appreciate art.

Base yourself in the museumplein and you will have the pick of the best museums at your fingertips. One of the top places to visit is the Rijksmuseum. Boasting the country’s largest collection of art including 4 Vermeer’s and 40 Rembrandts!

Other museums that should be on your list are the Van Gogh museum, Rembrandthuis, the Jewish History museum and Foam- a modern photography gallery. All that should absolutely keep you going during your trip.

Amsterdam for Foodies

Whilst you will always find a nice traditional home cooked meal or a dependable chain restaurant for dinner, for those who want a bit more there are some great foodie surprises in Amsterdam.

Combine dining with art with a new concept called the culinary workshop, set menus offer cryptic suggestions to delight diners with creations such as ‘it’s a matter of time’.

Other wonderful experiences include dining in the dark, the floating chefs table, garden to plate and the butchers. You won’t go hungry that’s for sure.

Ok so now you see that Amsterdam truly does have something for everyone and should be on your list if you are heading to Europe -have you packed yet? Have I missed anything? I’d love to hear your suggestions too
